Corrosion Instruments (CI) Pty. Ltd. is committed to providing quality services to you and this policy outlines our ongoing obligations to you in respect of how we manage your personal information. We have adopted the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and other applicable privacy laws and regulations. The NPPs govern the way in which we collect, use, disclose, store, secure and dispose of your Personal Information.   • Online including CI website(s) and mobile applications

  • CI events and get togethers
  • Subscription to CI mailing list
  • Application to CI as employee, contractor, or volunteer

5. SENSITIVE INFORMATION

Sensitive information is defined in the Privacy Act to include information or opinion about such things as an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious or philosophical beliefs, membership of a trade union or other professional body, criminal or health information.

Sensitive information will be used by us only:

  • For the primary purpose for which it was obtained
  • For a secondary purpose that is directly related to the primary purpose
  • With your consent, or where required or authorised by law

NOTE: CI products or services are not aimed at children under 13 years of age and will not intentionally collect data from them.

6. THIRD PARTIES

Where reasonable and practical to do so, we will collect your personal information only from you. However, in some rare circumstance we may be provided with information by third parties or through publicly available sources. In such cases we will take reasonable steps to ensure that you are made aware of the information provided to us by the third party.

CI website(s) may contain links to websites operated by third parties. If you access a third-party website through our website(s), personal information may be collected by that third party website. We make no representations or warranties in relation to the privacy practices of any third-party provider or website and we are not responsible for the privacy policies or the content of any third-party provider or website. Third party providers / websites are responsible for informing you about their own privacy practices and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

7. HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

We use personal information for many purposes in connection with our functions and activities, including the following purposes:

10. SECURITY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

CI will take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information that we hold is stored in manner that reasonably protects it from misuse, loss, from unauthorized access, modification, or disclosure, including by:

  • Robust security of our premises and databases/records
  • Taking measures to restrict access to only personnel who need that personal information to effectively provide services to you
  • Having technological measure in place such as, firewalls, anti-virus software, wireless security camera systems

11. ONLINE ACTIVITY

11.1.1 Cookies

CI website(s) uses cookies. A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers the website puts on your device if you allow it. These cookies recognise when your device has visited our website(s) before, so we can distinguish you from other users of the website. This improves your experience and the CI websites(s).

We do not use cookies to identify you, just to improve your experience on our website(s). 11.1.2 Website Analytics

Please allow few days for CI to respond to your complaint. It will not always be possible to resolve a complaint to everyone’s satisfaction. If you are not satisfied with CI’s response to a complaint, you have the right to contact the Office of Australian Information Commissioner (www.oaic.gov.au) to lodge a complaint.
